In Secret Sex Lives: Swingers, you'll hear the couples use
various phrases and terms to describe their lifestyle, their
relationships and their interactions with other couples. Learn what a
swinger is, what swinging entails and other swinger lingo with our
helpful dictionary:
Bi-curious/Bi-friendly, Girl/Girl, etc:
Most females in the Lifestyle are comfortable playing with other
females, even if it is just flirtation or for show. Some swingers couples limit
their play to just girl/girl. It is uncommon for guys to be bi.
Cheating: Marital infidelity without your partner’s knowledge or consent.
Cruise Director: Term used to describe the individual who is in charge of the action at a swinging event.
Full Swap: Full swinging experience—no holds barred.
Full Swap, Same Room: Full swinging experience, but both partners must remain in the same room throughout.
Full Swap, Separate Rooms: Full swinging experience, but partners can be in separate rooms.
On Premise/Off Premise: Swinger clubs and parties designate their status as to whether sex is allowed.
Open Relationship: A term to
describe a relationship arrangement in which both parties in a swingers couple
are permitted to engage with other individuals, with or without the
knowledge of their primary partner.
Pillow Princess: Term used to describe a female who is interested in enjoying the swinging experience, but rarely reciprocates.
Playing: Term used to indicate
sexual contact, whether soft or full. Couples typically invite other
couples by asking if you want to go “play”.
Polyamorous: Having an
intimate (caring) relationship with more than one partner. This is
different than Swinging in that there are typically no emotional
connections to other partners. Swinging involves friendship, but not
intimacy.
Rules: For swingers, “the rules” are guidelines and principles agreed upon by couple for their participation in the lifestyle.
Safe Words: A nonsexual word
that a couple uses to indicate whether or not they would like to swing
with another couple, such as ‘dessert’. To say “I would like dessert
tonight” would indicate an individual’s interest in swinging.
Contrarily, to say “I will pass on dessert” would indicate that an
individual would not be interested in swinging.
Same Room Only: Many Swingers couples have the rule that they will only play when they are in the same room together.
Soft Swap: A limited swinging experience where the line is typically drawn short of sexual intercourse.
Swinging: Also referred to as
“The Lifestyle”, swinging is a nonmonogamous behavior in which singles
or partners in a committed relationship engage in sexual activities with
others as a recreational or social activity.
Swinging Scale: The range of acceptable swinging activities, as determined by a couple and/or an individual.
Unicorn: Term used to describe
a single female—also referred to as a “mythical creature”—who engages
in sexual activity with another couple. There is no known male
equivalent.
Vanilla: Term used to describe people who do not participate in the lifestyle.
